Energizing talent is central to our Motion vision in the Learning and Development team. We provide diverse professional development opportunities to support Motion employees' success. Courses are available in-person, virtual, and on-demand via our Learning Management System (LMS). In-person sessions occur nationwide, including at our new 20,000 sq. ft. Learning and Development Center in Birmingham.

Learning & Development Programs

Our Impact Team program's mantra is “Make an Impact Personally, Professionally, and Publicly.” It has two tracks: Individual Contributor and Leadership. Self-awareness is vital for professional development and is central to the program. Participants complete DISC Profile, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, StrengthsFinder 2.0, and interest and values assessments to develop an Ideal Work Summary.

Both tracks involve full-day classes every eight weeks, weekly book discussions, team-building exercises, monthly coaching, and community service. Networking is essential, allowing participants to expand professional connections and learn about other company areas. The program runs in 15-month cohorts.

While the Impact Team program may be the best-known, we offer several other programs that all support the development of Motion employees. 

Mentorship Program

This program offers a channel for professional growth outside the mentee’s reporting structure, enhancing personal insight and understanding of the company. Participants design profiles and match based on interests and experience. Mentees engage in confidential conversations with mentors and receive guidance to boost professional growth. A defined path and resources are available, but participants can customize the program to fit their needs.

Innovative Leadership Program (ILP) 

This program examines key aspects of middle management leadership, starting with self-awareness. It focuses on change management from individual and leader perspectives. Skills taught enhance professional growth and team development. Participants build lasting relationships with peers facing similar challenges, creating a support system that endures beyond the program.

Motion Conveyance Solutions Field Service Apprenticeship Program  

This program offers standardized training for entry-level Mi Conveyance Solutions Field Service Technicians to develop their skills and enhance customer experience. Focus areas include safety, product knowledge, maintenance, and repair. Additionally, employees learn business etiquette and professionalism to support their career growth.

Motion Leadership Development Program

This program offers talented employees a professional development opportunity through a business simulation game, focusing on relevant subjects in our industry. Teams apply knowledge from sessions led by Motion executives and Samford University professors to strategically build successful companies, competing for the title of “Grand Champion. " It ensures Motion employees remain industry leaders and gain a competitive marketplace advantage.
