Soft Starts

Soft starts gradually increase the voltage supplied to an electric motor, reducing the initial inrush current and mechanical stress during startup. This controlled acceleration reduces wear and tear on the motor and connected equipment, extending their lifespan and improving reliability. Soft starters control motor acceleration on startup and decrease mechanical wear of AC electric motors. When engaged, they reduce electrical current surge, torque, and load in the powertrain. Most units control two of the three voltage phases in the induction motor, but three-phase soft starters control the entire acceleration and deceleration process. Soft starters include built-in protection features to maintain consistent voltage during operation.
