Overview

• High speed steel (HSS) provides good wear resistance and can be used in general purpose applications for both ferrous and nonferrous materials
• Reamers without a variable diameter are used only for holes that have a diameter equal to the reamer
• Straight flute reamers are the most common and are used in general purpose though-hole applications
• They are used for reaming holes without interrupted cuts.
