Overview

• A tang is the tapered end of the file that can either be used to hold the file or inserted it into an optional handle.; Half round files are used for rounding out holes and filing concave, convex and flat surfaces. These files are rounded on one side and flat on the other.; Single cut files consist of one set of parallel, diagonal teeth extended across the face of the file. They are used for sharpening or to produce a smooth finish. Double cut files consist of two sets of teeth crisscrossing each other at opposite angles. They are used for heavy stock removal.; Smooth cut files are finer files and have the most teeth per inch. They are used for detailing and fine finishing work.
