• Aluminum has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is wear resistant, nonmagnetic and conductive
• It is easier to form and machine than steel and is naturally noncorrosive
• Flat head types have wide, flat flanges
• The flanges increase a rivet nut s strength and allow for installation in oversized holes
• Standard rivet nuts have two open ends and a head with a narrow flange
• The open ends allow for the use of long screws and bolts, while the narrow flange prevents pull-through.
