Overview

• A tang is the tapered end of the file that can either be used to hold the file or inserted it into an optional handle.; Double cut files consist of two sets of teeth crisscrossing each other at opposite angles. They are used for heavy stock removal.; Half round files are used for rounding out holes and filing concave, convex and flat surfaces. These files are rounded on one side and flat on the other.; Second cut files have a medium coarseness. They are used for intermediate smoothing and finishing work.
