  • Hex socket drive types have a hex-shaped recess in the head and are driven with hex keys or hex socket bits
  • The driving surface is protected from external damage and provides six sides of contact surface for added torque
  • Soft tip points have large, flat points that protrude from the set screw s body
  • The tip is often made of nylon, which is rigid but soft
  • Soft tip points are used absorb vibration and provide tight fixes without marking the material.
