Stabilizing Rings
Stabilizing rings are used to fix mounted bearings on a shaft and eliminate axial movement in both directions while still allowing radial movement. Also known as stab rings, fixing rings, or locating rings, they are placed inside the housing against the bearing. Stabilizing rings should be used only on one bearing along a shaft because expansion and contraction occur due to temperature fluctuations. All other bearings on the same shaft do not require stabilizing rings because they have enough clearance to compensate for expansion.
